Why is it important for a diabetic client to have regular pedicures?
Weather its just a trim or a full pedicure, it’s important for a diabetic to have their feet checked regularly. Something as simple as trimming the nails can be a difficult task. If the nails are cut improperly, or infrequently, the skin can be punctured. Because of the reduced circulation and neuropathy in the feet, if the skin in cut or punctured the injury may not be felt or seen. Infection can set in and become a serious problem. As skin care therapists (or aestheticians) we are more than capable of helping and pampering. We check for ingrown toenails, abrasions, cuts, circulation problems, corns, callus’, etc. Our diabetic client will feel confident leaving our spa with feet that are healthy and pampered!
